I am trying to deal with a lot of things on a personal level and taking it one day at a time. Life is good, I am not complaining but when life happens all at once, sometimes you have to take a step back and analyze and make some tough decisions.

So that’s what I am doing right now and trying to deal with it through reading a lot.
I went to the library today and picked up some really interesting books, well, at least they look interesting, and I can’t wait to read them.
1. Virgina Woolf in Manhattan
2. Design Sponge at Home 
3. The Girl with All the Gifts — everyone has been raving about this on instagram and I really wanted to check it out!
4. D.I.Y Magic — I picked up a copy of this for my sister but decided to borrow one from the library to read instead!

Ria goes to her First Ever Baby Shower!

Today I went to my first ever baby shower & it was a lot of fun! I don’t have a lot of friends in Toronto who have kids so I don’t really get invited to a ton of baby showers!

It was a baby shower for one of the nicest, kindest souls that I have the pleasure of being friends with. Emily I love you so much and you are going to be an incredible mom!

I met Emily about 4.5 years ago now through twitter. She is a Toronto based jewelry designer and all around awesome lady! Check out her creations —> HERE <—

Baby shower favours for everyone to take home – handmade soup that says from Ruby Shower to yours! How cute!

If you haven’t guessed by now, the theme of the shower was flamingoes and it is a girl! Congratulations Em and Alan! I can’t wait to meet your little bundle of joy and babysit her!

P.S: We played games and I actually won one of them! HUZZAH!

Update: #goals, tattoos, MARKET and more

January whizzed by and February is threatening to do the same. It has been a busy albeit a productive year thus far!

Launched MARKET – Powered by RIGHTSLEEVE and got to chat with some brilliant marketing minds in Toronto. This will be a quarterly series and promises to be good. If you don’t know what I am talking about, click —> HERE <—
The feedback has been amazing so far and I am eternally grateful for that 🙂

All of my other goals that I had set up in January have gone down the crapper just due to the fact that I have been busy. SILLY RIA! This is why you set goals, remember. I know, I know. I ought to be more realistic. So starting this week here are my rejigged goals;

1. Do yoga once a week – So everything on top of that will be gravy!
2. Eat one home cooked meal a week.
3. Read one book a month – I tend to read a lot faster in the summer but start of the year is brutal for a reader.
4. Blog Once a Month – I think I can do it 😉
5. Relax

What am I reading right now?

Still trying to finish “The Sun Also Rises” by Hemingway but also started reading an excellent book titled “Everybody Writes” by Ann Handley, which is about content marketing and for those of you who know me personally, know that I live and breathe marketing.

Achievement Unlocked 

Spoke at a Women in Tech event a week ago and I know this may not be a big deal for some but hey it was pretty fun for me so yay! go me! LOL
The most interesting part of the evening was that it made me more aware of my own privilege, which is awesome! Go mum! Go dad! and thank you for everything you have given me and done for me!

Being thankful

Many a times I find myself in a situation whereby I am asked what I’m thankful for. It is one of those questions that I find really hard to answer because quite frankly there is just too much to be thankful for.

There are so many things that we rant or crib about everyday but take a moment to take a look around and to see how many rights there are in your life before you start complaining about the wrongs.

So here is a list of things that I am thankful for and then I want to know what YOU are thankful for (:

I am thankful for… my grammy telling me, when I broke my tooth and thought that I was ugly, that ugly ducklings turn into beautiful swans.

I am thankful for… my mom being alright and coming back home from the hospital.

I am thankful for… being with you.

I am thankful for… my family.

I am thankful for… knowing that everything will be ok in the end.

I am thankful for… having a warm meal waiting for me when I get back home.

I am thankful for… having clothing on my back and a shelter above my head.

I am thankful for… having so many people in my life who really do give a crap about me and are willing to put up with my eccentricities. Seriously, how do you guys do that?!

I am thankful for… the summer and the winter and the spring and the fall. Wheeee! (changing weathers do make me unusually happy! :D) 

I am thankful for… being able to express myself using words, I don’t know what on earth I will do without that!

I am thankful for… being alive and for being in good health.

I am thankful for… everything that has happened in my life so far and events that have made me the person that I am today. I know that I crib and complain about things at times (ok many times… sometimes even during the same day ;)) but I know that God has a plan.

I am thankful for… having YOU GUYS in my life!

Seriously though, I find a lot of things and people cute and adorable. I don’t know why is that but it just is! and I guess I am thankful for that too! 😀

But enough about me! What are you thankful for?
